[c]MPWide: Light-weight communication library for distributed computing[/c][/b]
Abstract: MPWide is a light-weight communication library for distributed computing. It is specifically developed to allow message passing over long-distance networks using path-specific optimizations. An early version of MPWide was used in the Gravitational Billion Body Project to allow simulations across multiple supercomputers.

Derek Groen here: I thought it would be useful/fun to add a little bit of supplementary information.

The latest paper that reports on the cosmological simulations across supercomputers is here: http://arxiv.org/abs/1109.5559

Also, we used the library actually for an entirely different purpose, namely to couple blood flow codes together ;)
There's a preprint of that here: http://arxiv.org/abs/1211.2963

I still maintain the library on a weekly basis, and intend to release MPWide 1.5 version fairly soon. If anyone would like to use it, and would like me to make a few adaptations in the tool, feel free to drop me a line!
