SNooPy: TypeIa supernovae analysis tools

SNooPy: TypeIa supernovae analysis tools

Abstract: The SNooPy package (also known as SNpy), written in Python, contains tools for the analysis of TypeIa supernovae. It offers interactive plotting of light-curve data and models (and spectra), computation of reddening laws and K-corrections, LM non-linear least-squares fitting of light-curve data, and various types of spline fitting, including Diercx and tension. The package also includes a SNIa lightcurve template generator in the CSP passbands, estimates of Milky-Way Extinction, and a module for dealing with filters and spectra.

Hi.

Based on the code's FAQ (Miscellaneous section) I think that the 2011 AJ paper is the preferred citation. I know this because I just discovered that I failed to catch a missing SNooPy software citation during data review, but sadly caught it only later post-publication. I will now catch for "framework" as a (new to me) software keyword.

Hi Gus,

Thanks very much for this info! I've added it to the entry.

Woodstock says, there is yet another SNOOPY code out there!

http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it/snoopy.html

of course "THE CODE IS NOT PUBLICLY AVAILABLE" and has no preferred citation...

Woodstock is always right! That code's inaccessibility is why I didn't have the Snoopy trifecta I'd hoped for in May 2015. I had to settle for a daily double instead.
