PyXel: Astronomical X-ray imaging data modeling

Abstract: PyXel models astronomical X-ray imaging data; it provides a common set of image analysis tools for astronomers working with extended X-ray sources. PyXel can model surface brightness profiles from X-ray satellites using a variety of models and statistics. PyXel can, for example, fit a broken power-law model to a surface brightness profile, and fit a constant to the sky background level in the direction of the merging galaxy cluster.
