Yay! And you're welcome! Thanks very much for the question!

We've been working on a list of best practices for software registries this year and will soon be adding information, including how to site the ASCL, over the next few months as we adopt these practices.

(now as a logged-in user)
It would be neat for this info the be somewhere (probably under about?). I guess the software used by ASCL is somewhat open (not sure how much you really had to develop stuff)? So would ASCL actually belong in ASCL (this is a nightmare for the search box I guess).

Sorry, diverging: yes that's be great. Since I am writing a proceedings paper, I will cite the paper now :). Thanks!

My apologies for not seeing this earlier, and thank you for asking the question! ASCL has been cited by the following, so either one of these is fine: (refereed paper) ... 4.4408N%2F (AAS poster)

I hadn't thought of using the DOI as a reference and will take a look at that. We really should say how we want to be cited, shouldn't we?!!

This is a bit of a meta question, but we'd like to cite ASCL in our ADASS paper. I can't really find what the way is you prefer to be cited like is. Of course I can simply use a footnoted URL, but I wonder if I could make it a real citation.

Zenodo suggested to use their DOI as a reference. I see you have one too so it may be most consistent to use it, but I want to make sure you don't have your own preference.
