Astrophysics Source Code Library:
New Editor-in-Chief Needed
Applications for a new Editor-in-Chief of the Astrophysics Source Code Library
at ASCL.net are solicited. The position pays no money and would
require about an hour a week time commitment. Reasons for interest in the position include an altruist
desire to build something unique and useful to the astrophysics community. ASCL.net is currently the
largest index of diverse computer codes of interest to astronomers and astrophysicists on the Internet. The
new Editor-in-Chief will be expected to collect new and useful codes and links for indexing in ASCL.net,
as well as update entries in the current index. A general knowledge of astrophysics, popular computing
environments, and HTML are important. Upon selection, the ASCL.net domain and its archives will be
transferred to a computer controlled by the new editor. Interested candidates should send an email to ascl@mtu.edu along with a brief description of their qualifications and
visions for the future of the Astrophysics Source Code Library.
The selection process will begin in early 2003 and continue until a new
Editor-in-Chief is selected.
